Notebook Fireflies - North America

Fireflies, Mississippi, North America.  

For a few short weeks in early summer, when North American forests are warm and humid, millions of fireflies take to the air to attract a mate. The males of some species, like this one in Mississippi, flash in synchrony to amplify their message.
